COVID-19 Information
Baca County Public Health office is stilling offering free vaccine clinics.
Our next scheduled vaccine clinics; is Friday, February 11 and 18, 2022 from 8:00 to 12:00, it will be at Baca County Public Health Office, also we will be offering pediatric Pfizer vaccine to children aged 5-11 years. We still have some flu vaccines available. Testing is still available every Monday in the parking lot of Southeast Colorado Hospital (373 East 10th Avenue, Springfield). We are now offering free COVID testing at the Baca County Public Health Office, we will being providing testing on Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30am to 9:30am. We would ask that people call ahead to make an appointment.
Baca County Public Health Agency will be offering free KN95 and Surgical Grade Masks, we will give each individual five (5) free mask per month, as long as supplies are available.
- FDA Gives Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Full Approval: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given full approval to Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, which will now be marketed under the brand name Spikevax, for people ages 18 and older. This approval marks the second COVID-19 vaccine to receive this designation, following the full approval of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine on August 23rd, 2021. - State Updates and Extends Public Health Order (PHO) 21-02: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has extended Public Health Order 21-02, concerning access to care. The PHO requires providers to do all they can to provide all eligible individuals with therapeutics and will be valid until March 1, 2022. Updates to this PHO include the following:
- State Updates and Extends Public Health Order (PHO) 21-02: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has extended Public Health Order 21-02, concerning access to care. The PHO requires providers to do all they can to provide all eligible individuals with therapeutics and will be valid until March 1, 2022. Updates to this PHO include the following:
- Removed monoclonal antibody therapies not currently authorized by FDA, added therapeutic options to include COVID-19 oral antivirals and another monoclonal antibody therapy;
- Amended the order to include currently authorized COVID-19 therapeutics (monoclonal antibody therapies and oral antivirals);
- Amended reporting requirements to weekly for sotrovimab and daily for Evusheld, molnupiravir, and Paxlovid;
- Amended to include specific eligibility criteria for each of the monoclonal antibody therapies and oral antivirals; &
- Added language to allow for other medical conditions other than those specifically listed as potential high risk indicators for severe COVID-19 disease.
- Test To Stay School Testing Program: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) recently launched an additional school testing program that will supplement testing resources, help students and staff continue in-person learning after contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and reduce the burden on parents. Baca County Public Health Agency has been notified that we have seventy (50) new laboratory confirmed cases, from December 31, 2021 to February 4, 2022 in Baca County. Out of respect for patient’s privacy, we will only release the following information (No other information will be released at this time):

Close contacts are being contacted and will be placed in quarantine.
